Yum Alert #6 - Honey Republic Organic Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
Honey and yogurt just naturally go well together. This recipe is an adaptation of one by David Lebovitz found in his wonderful book “The Perfect Scoop”. It is extremely simple and delivers a real punch of intense strawberry flavor. David’s frozen dessert recipes are just loaded with flavor, and we highly recommend this book if you love to make your own ice cream, or if you are interested in learning how. This particular recipe substitutes Honey Republic Premium Organic Strawberry Honey for the sugar, adding an extra dimension of strawberry taste.
Ingredients
1 lb fresh or frozen organic strawberries
½ Cup Honey Republic Premium Organic Strawberry Honey
1 Cup organic whole milk plain yogurt
2 teaspoons Strawberry vodka or Chambord (optional)
1 Teaspoon freshly squeezed organic lemon juice
Directions
In a small bowl, combine the honey, lemon juice and liquor (if using), and whisk together until syrupy. Cut the strawberries into small pieces, and place in a medium bowl. Pour the Honey mixture over the berries and stir until well coated. Let the berries stand at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Pour the berry mixture into a food processor, add the yogurt and blend thoroughly. Pour the mixture back into the bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Once chilled, freeze in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Makes approximately one quart.
